History

Samuel Statland and Hershel Katz founded Statland & Katz, Ltd. in 1974.They started Statland & Katz at the corner of Colesville Road and Spring Street in Silver Spring, MD, with one employee in a very small office. Their early concept of a consumer-oriented, one-stop shop eventually grew to a staff of 10 in much larger space.

Julie Statland joined the Agency in 1989, when Hershel hired her to be a client service representative. Julie became a full partner in 1991 when Hershel retired and she bought him out.

Forty-three years after opening their doors Statland & Katz, Ltd. joined forces with Joseph W. McCartin Insurance, Inc. in March 2017. The principals had a several decades long relationship and their agencies had matching business principles and practices. Julie and Sam are now free of the administrative duties so they can spend more time doing community outreach and sales..

Our clients continue to receive the same exceptional service they have always received. Joseph W. McCartin Insurance, Inc. has been in business for fifty years. Together we have a staff of 20+ agents and additional resources to serve our valued clients.
